What is voxgate?
 voxgate is a free telephone service that uses the latest technology to bring free and high-quality voice communications to people all over the world. When you use the free voxgate service, you can call any regular phone on the planet at incredible low rate. You can also call all your online friends subscribed to voxgate or any other partner's network as long as you like, for free. Just sign up yourself and download the voxgate free softphone.

 

Making a free call to other voxgate user?
Every voxgate subscriber has own voxgate number which receives upon registration. You just need to dial your friend's 7-digit voxgate number to enjoy the completely free of charge call.

 

Making a free call to partner's network user?
 To place a free call to any partner's network user, you need to know the user's local network number as well as the network prefix code. Please check the partner's networks names and prefixes here.

 

Making an international call?
You can use your voxgate telephone to call any regular landline or mobile telephone number on the planer. You just need to top-up your account with any funds and dial the number you wish to reach. Please do not forget to dial the number in international format starting with 00 international prefix. For example, if you want to call a number in UK you have to dial 00440201234567. When calling a number in USA you have to dial 0012531234567. Even if you are calling local number in your country/city you should dial the international and area code first.

 

Can I forward my voxgate number to any number in the world?
Yes, you can define the forwarding in the user's web panel. Just login with your voxgate number and password and click on the Services menu. Please remember you have to enter the forward-to number in international format, starting with 00. You can not forward incoming calls to another voxgate number! If the forward-to number is one of the paid destinations this will be deducted from your account's balance.

 

Can I use voxgate with Mac or Linux?
Yes! As our network is based on standard VoIP protocols (SIP and IAX2) you can use any of hundreds free softphones that support these protocols. Many softphones are available for any Operating System. We recommend the free softphone ZOIPER, which is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. If choose to use any softphone, please see SIP and IAX2 setup parameters and details below.

 

I want to configure my own SIP device or softphone for calling with voxgate, is it possible?
 Yes! Please use these general SIP settings with your device/softphone:

SIP Port: 5060

Registrar: sip.voxgate.biz

Proxy Server: sip.voxgate.biz

Outbound Proxy: leave empty

Account Name: Your voxgate number

Password: Your voxgate password

Display Name/Number: Your voxgate number

STUN Server (optional): sip.voxgate.biz

Codecs: G.729 / G.723.1 / GSM / iLBC

 

I want to configure my own IAX2 device or softphone for calling with voxgate, is it possible?
 Yes! Please use these general IAX2 settings with your device/softphone:

IAX2 Server: sip.voxgate.biz

Account Name: Your voxgate number

Password: Your voxgate password

Display Name/Number: Your voxgate number

Codecs: G.729 / G.723.1 / GSM / iLBC

 

I have installed/configured my new voxgate phone. How can I test it?
You can dial the echo-test number 190 from your voxgate telephone. This is the way you will check how your voice reaches the called party as well as how his voice reaches you.
